Augie Faller


Graduate Resident Fellow

Augie is a PhD student in philosophy, working primarily in metaphysics. His dissertation focuses on theories of metaphysical explanation, and applies some insights from this literature to the metaphysics of social groups. He enjoys teaching, and has taught original courses at Cornell and through the Cornell Prison Education Program, including "A Philosopher's Guide to the Galaxy: Philosophy Through Science Fiction."  

Augie was steeped in the liberal arts tradition as a philosophy major at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. While at Reed, Augie worked as a lifeguard, taught a skateboarding PE class, and served as czar of the 7th Annual Nitrogen Day. He grew up in scenic North Idaho, and enjoys skate/snowboarding, knitting, slacklining, and listening to records, among other hobbies.
