Rediet was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where
she spent the majority of her childhood reading books and thinking about
Euclidean geometry before she found herself as an undergraduate in mathematics
at Harvard during the fall of 2009. She has since studied math and computer
science at various institutions and is very excited to land at Cornell as a
Ph.D. student in computer science!
She is interested in problems at the intersection of computer science,
mathematics, and social sciences, including social networks, computational
social science, and mechanism design. Currently, her work explores opinion
formation and dynamics in social networks, and the interaction between
inequality, networks, and technology.
When she is not working in Gates Hall, she can be found lifting at Teagle,
volunteering at various local and national political campaign offices, or at
Autumn Leaves Used Books.
